Borghese Advanced Lash Defining Mascara - Kirkland Signature- Costco Review

This Mascara is sold as a set of two mascaras at Costco for $15.99. As far as I can tell, it only comes in Black. It is not waterproof, and it claims to be a lengthening and volumnizing mascara.

The tube is rectangular, with silver reflective plastic casing. I find it to be very high end looking, except that the material allows for fingerprints to be left behind, and the big fat KIRKLAND etching above the Borghese Logo.

When I first tried this mascara, it was insanely dry and barely coated my lashes. So I ran the wand under the tap, and re-inserted it into the tube and tried it again the next day. This dramatically helped. However, to achieve the claims on the packaging, it takes time. Many, many coats are needed to make my lashes full and long. I like that the mascara is buildable, each layer definitely increases wow factor, I just wish that I didn't need so many coats. I tend to over apply mascara in general because I have thin blonde lashes. So usually 3 coats is good for me. But with this, I used 5 coats it least every time I use it. Needless to say, I will probably run out of it sooner than I would with most mascaras. Perhaps that is why they sell it in a 2-pack (ha ha).

I like that it's a brush and not plastic. Though the shape of the brush makes it really hard to apply to the lower lashes. The wand itself is really long. (I prefer a shorted wand! It makes it easier to control the brush.)

I am wearing this mascara in both of these pictures on different days. It makes a much more dramatic impact when my eyes are closed, rather than open. I think this is because it offers no curling effect. So my lashes are thick, but they are just sticking straight forward. I am not that big a fan of an eyelash curler, so I tend to rely on my mascara to be a serious multi-tasker. If your lashes naturally curl, then this will not be an issue for you.

I will not be purchasing this mascara again. It is an okay mascara, so I will probably use it until it runs out, but I'd rather use Maybelline Falsies or L'Oreal Voluminous Mascara. Both are around the same price point.
