Gobble Gobble and Thanksgiving Nails

This is a super quick and easy manicure that will help get you in the mood for some stuffing and turkey. I used two Revlon Nail polishes on alternating nails. Revlon Brilliant Strength in Hypnotize is the gold color. Revlon Colorstay Longwear in Sunburst is the orange color.

I am so thankful for my friends and family that have supported me through my move and I love each and every one of them.

I hope that everyone has a fun Thanksgiving, and you each get a slice of your favorite pie!

Uncle Harry's Natural Products -Jojoba Cream Review

My boyfriend is really into vitamins and protein supplements. So I find myself accompanying him to such stores that sell these types of things. These stores almost always have a beauty aisle with all natural make up and shampoo and etc. But I usually don't buy any beauty products from these stores, because they are usually overpriced. But when I went to my first vitamin store here in Washington, I felt like everything was on sale since I'm so used to the inflated prices of California vitamin stores.  So I finally decided to pull the trigger and buy some face cream.

This face cream was around $6.00 for 2 oz.

You always hear about jojoba oil in creams and hair products, but jojoba cream? Never heard of it. The store had a tester and it felt soft enough, but a lot of the products in there don't really have any information on what they are meant to do. As you can see in the photos, all this really says is that it is moisturizing. Once I got it home I did some research on jojoba cream, and apparently it is good for moisturizing acne prone skin. By pure chance I picked something that would be good for my combination skin.

I have been using it for about a month now, and I really like it. It is lightly moisturizing, and I think it has made a difference in the amount of acne I get on a daily basis. It works well under normal foundations and face powders. But it is too dry for me when I wear it under Revlon Colorstay.

It feels really weird when you first apply it, because it feels like Crisco. It is slightly solid, yet really greasy feeling. That greasy feeling transfers to your skin. But after it dries, it sets to a nice finish that is neither oily or dry. In this photo you can see the two different textures to the cream- oil and solid.

As winter approaches, my skin is starting to get more and more dry, so for the last few days I have been layering more moisturizing creams on top of the jojoba cream. It is creating a good balance for my combination skin. But because of this, I would not recommend this for someone who's skin is really dry. I think it's best for combination and normal skin types, and definitely for those with acne.

The Hunger Games -Catching Fire Make Up Look and Movie Review

I was getting ready to go see the movie over the weekend, wishing that I had a Hunger Games T shirt to wear when I remembered all the buzz about Katniss' eye shadow look from the trailer (the scene from the movie is the party held in the capital during the publicity tour). So I did my best to mimic it. Please pardon my messy hair, I actually took these photos after the movie, around 1 a.m. right before I was going to wash my face and go to bed.

I used Maybelline Tattoo in Pomegranate Punk as a base on my lid. I then blended a few different red eye shadows from BH 120 palette 1st ed. and a Wet N Wild Color Icon Trio in "Three's a Party". To make the white line I used NYX Jumbo pencil in "milk" by cutting off a chunk and using a thin eye liner brush. Then I lined my lid and both sides of the white with my Essence Liquid Eye liner. And then applied a giant pair of false lashes that are too thick and spiky looking for normal wear for me.

I also wrote a review of the film for my friend's website, Geek Armada.
Please check it out here.

I loved all the make up on Katniss and Johanna in the film, but not Effie's. Each scene that she was wearing that silly gold hair, her make up was hideous. I think they used too many metallic shades on her, so it all looked like muddy water.

Did you watch the movie? What did you think of the make up in the film?

Hautelook.com Partnership with Nordstrom's Rack

I have been shopping on Hautelook for a little over a year now because of the Beauty Sales that they have (The Balm is my favorite). But because of the price point and lack of plus sizes for their apparel, I usually just check the site for beauty deals each week. But a few weeks ago I logged on and noticed that they were now selling Nordstrom Rack products. I got very excited to see a Plus Size Raccoon sweater that I saw on Nordstrom's site a few months ago. It was marked down from $65 to $19.99. I wore it to work today, so here is a pic of the first item from my new favorite online clothing site :)

Bottoms: Torrid
Black Wedges: Avenue
Black scarf: JC Penny

What is Hautelook?

Essence Eyeliner Pen

$2.99
Fred Meyer or Ulta
Black (there is no color description on the packaging)

I decided to try this eyeliner because of how much I love the Essence Gel Liner. I thought, if this brand can nail a gel liner at this price point, the pen liner must be decent. It is actually better than I could have imagined. It is opaque and doesn't fade at all through out the day (I hate eye liner that fades!!!). If you rub it, it will smudge a bit, but that is not a problem for me because I almost never touch my eyes when I'm wearing make up. So it is easy to remove at night. I always think that the thicker the tip on a pen liner, the easier to apply. But this liner pen defies that rule, as it applies very easily. You can load it on thick, and then the tiny tip allows a more precise application for the inner and outer line of your eye.

I seriously can't believe this liner is so cheap because it has quickly become my favorite drugstore pen eye liner. The only thing I am worried about is how quickly it will dry up, because there is no ball inside to shake the product around. I also wish there were more colors offered, I only saw Black in the display.

Overall:
Buy this!

My brother's Wedding :)

I just got back from my brother's beach wedding a few days ago. It was held at the Hard Rock Hotel in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. I was there for 7 days and I had the most amazing time. I was so glad that my whole family was able to make it since I have been missing them since I moved to Washington in August. I thought I'd share some of my travel make up and beauty routine.

Here I am with 2 of my sisters: Holly and Lonnie.

I did formal make up on myself, my three sisters, and my mother for the wedding. Phew. It was a very busy day. My brother and his fiancé (now wife!) requested that all the women in my family wear the same color, but different dresses. It looked really nice because we were all included in the wedding ceremony in different ways. I read a poem at the beginning of the ceremony which suited me because I love public speaking. Since we were all wearing the same color, I kept all of our make up within the same color range. I used the Naked 1 palette and a few different purple MAC eye shadows on everyone. I specifically chose different false eyelashes for each of us, because I was worried about us being too matchy matchy. But I did use Too Faced Chocolate Bronzer on everyone.

Here I am a few minutes before the wedding in the air conditioning. What was I thinking wearing high heels to a beach wedding? My heels sunk right in to the sand, I was so grateful for the flip flops that were passed out during the reception to all the wedding guests.

Here is a photo of the bridal party. These photos are off my phone, and they don't do the sunset justice. It was so beautiful! I will post some of the professional photos of my whole family once my brother gets them.

Here is a photo of me on the balcony of my hotel room. Yikes, that is no make up and no product in my hair. Completely natural was my daily look while on vacation. I had planned on wearing some make up by the pool, but the second we checked in to the all inclusive resort, I threw on a bathing suit and just relaxed!
